Excellent Water Repellency

Concrete and mineral substrates are porous and hygroscopic and need protection from moisture. Si-Rex03 is strongly water repellent which can be seen with the characteristic beading of water droplets on the surface when wet.

High Vapour Permeability

Si-Rex03 is unique because while it is highly water repellent, allows the substrate to breathe virtually unhindered. This eliminates the problems of cracking, peeling and flaking that plague acrylic paint systems.

Self Cleaning Effect

The high degree of water repellency prevents atmospheric soiling. Rain literally washes the dirt away. This is a significant advantage over traditional texture coatings where dirt accumulation can be severe. Structures coated in Si-Rex03 look clean and fresh.

UV Resistant "Quartz-Like" Structure

The Silicone in Si-Rex03 reacts to form a 3 dimensional "quartz-like" structure of alternating silicone and oxygen atoms. This structure is unaffected by UV and environmental degradation. Water repellent groups line the pores of the paint and stop the ingress of liquid water but allow water vapour to pass through. This unique structure is the key to performance of Si-Rex03. Conventional paint films are closed rather than open and are degraded by UV light.

Mineral Matt Finish

Si-Rex03 has a microscopically rough surface that scatters and diffuses light. This assists in hiding surface irregularities that are common on concrete, rendered, plaster and skim coated surfaces. Matt finishes are in keeping with mineral substrates and look more “natural” than coatings with gloss or sheen.

Fade Resistant Oxide Pigments

Inorganic/Oxide pigments are the only pigments that do not degrade with outdoor exposure to UV light . Si-Rex03 only incorporates these high quality pigments into our colours and colour matches. This pigment group produces neutral and earthy tones that suit mineral substrates. Si-Rex03 can be colour matched to most other chart (Bright Organic Colour Excluded)

Forgiving Application Properties

Si-Rex03 has been formulated to be as user and applicator friendly as possible. Normal application is by brush and roller It has excellent touch up and cutting in properties which makes painting easy. The easier a product is to apply the higher the standard of finish.

Water Based

Si-Rex03 is water based and therefore safe to use and handle with very easy clean-up. The product meets the world strictest VOC criteria and friendly to the environment.

Si-Rex03 is used mainly for exterior walls and facades on mineral substrates such as concrete and masonry. It is not recommended for use on wood, glass or metals.
